Welcome to Outback Motor Speedway

Welcome to the Outback Motor Speedway, which is a 1/24th scale Slot Car Track. For complete information on the speedway, just click on info at the top of this page. As you can see from the pictures we are racing late model dirt track cars, but we are planning on adding a pure stock class very soon. We are also thinking about adding a dirt modified series, but right now we are having a blast racing these late models.

We have some general rules about chassis type, engine requirement , tire rule, and body types in our rules section, much like the real late model rules.

On regular nights of racing, it is free to run as there is no payout. On special races, there is an entry fee, since we pay a predetermined purse for that particular event. Payout is to all eight finishers of the A Main Feature.

We also make and sell these custom late model bodies. We can either create a custom look for your personal taste, or make one of the many local or professional late model stars.

Hot Off The Presses
OMS was featured on National TV!!!

The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series sanctioned event from Virginia Motor Speedway, held April 14th, was aired on SPEED Channel this past Sunday, May 13th at 6PM EST. The Optima Batteries Commonwealth 100 – presented by E3 Spark Plugs was filmed for broadcast in High Definition by Lucas Oil Studios, a division of Lucas Oil Products, Inc. About halfway into the event, the racing breaks away to feature, the top Lucas Oil drivers trying their hand at Slot Car Racing on our own Outback Motor Speedway. It is truly an honor to be associated with the LOLMDS, and Lucas Oil. It was amazing to be asked to bring OMS down to the Commonwealth 100, and now quite unbelievable to imagine us being featured on National TV during a LOLMDS event!! We can never thank the series director, Ritchie Lewis enough, for letting us become a part of the Lucas Oil family!! It truly is an honor!!

If you missed this past Sunday's showing of the race on SPEED Channel, there is still one more chance to see this great broadcast. On June 10, 2012, at 6:00pm EST, the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series sanctioned event from Virginia Motor Speedway will again air on NBC Sports. If you missed it the first time on SPEED, heres your second chance to view it on NBC Sports, or simply watch it again like we will!! Thanks again to series director Ritchie Lewis, and Wayne Castleberry the series PR, for all they have done for us here at OMS.

UPDATES: OMS is in it's off-season right now, but we are still busy securing sponsors and new ideas for next season. So far just about every sponsor we had last year, has already committed to coming back this next season. Plus we are pleased to annouce that Powell's Plumbing, USA Produce and Seafood, and DeHaven's Trailer Sales, have all come onboard to sponsor races for this upcoming season.  Here at OMS we are also working on a complete set of rules. We have had different issues arise, this past season, so we feel we need to make a set of rules that can eliminate "gray areas", and then enforce them. This should make the racing even more enjoyable and fair to everyone. Stay tuned for more updates!

Well OMS is back home after it's trip to VMS, for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series race. From the moment OMS got there, till the time we left, the Sawyers who own VMS, plus the entire Lucas Oil staff went out of their way to make sure we got everything set up, and that everything was fine. The top Lucas Oil drivers, made their way over on Saturday, to try their hand at slot car racing, and they seemed to really enjoy it. The Lucas officials took some laps around OMS, as did the MAVTV girls, and two of the staff from Dirt On Dirt.

The owner of OMS Tim Hottle, would like to thank Brent Hottle, Denny LeFevre, Deb Leif, Mike Wittig, Joe Shifflett, Todd Breeden, Joe Saunders, Bobby Jones, Danny Jones and Tabby Leif, for all of their help at VMS. Between unloading, keeping an eye on the track, running the booth, and then loading everything back up, all the help was greatly appreciated. This was quite an experience, and just another amazing accomplishment, we have established here at OMS this year. Again OMS would like to thank all of their sponsors, for their support! Thanks to the Sawyers for making us feel at home at their VMS track, and thanks to Ritchie Lewis and the entire Lucas staff, for letting us be a part of the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series!

We have posted a lot more pictures of this event in our photo section..

We had our first Annual Points Banquet here at OMS, as we end what was an unbelievable season. We packed in over 50 different racers through out this season, and a whole bunch of 'first times" !! Like Kevin Sine, Andy Kirby, and Randy Ritter, making an A-Main appearance for the 'First Time", or how about Junior Cooper, and Joe Shiflett getting "first time" A-Main Feature wins. Jimmy McFarland picked up his "first time", ever "money race win by winning the Hillbilly 200, and then also picked up another money race this season with his victory in the Commonwealth 200. We can add Brent Hottle, in also as he won his "first time" ever A-Main features during a regular season.

Another "first time", was when we ran Twin 100 features, and then ran the second one, for the "first time", under the lights. Alan Sagi, won every heat race he entered in this season, for a "first time" that has ever happened. Which meant for the "first time", Alan never had to run a C-Main, B-Main, or LCQ race. This has been an amazing season that will be hard to top in records, and "firsts", but we are already hard at work, trying to think of things to improve and make better. Just this week Todd Turner, of Dirt on Dirt did a nice article on us here at OMS, and posted our story on their website under "Quick Time". We are the "first ever", slot car track to be  mentioned on Dirt on Dirt. We had our 2nd Freedom 200 race this year, but it was the "first time", that it was run on Veteran's Day, and also the "first time", we ever had products to give away, donated from our local Air Force and National Guard.

Now we are the "FIRST EVER", slot car track, to ever hold a Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series event!!! We are so proud to be able to say this!!!

The series director of the LOLMDS Ritchie Lewis stated,We are very excited and looking forward to this race at OMS. I wish everyone a goodtime, and hope that all of the winners will enjoy the Lucas Oil products that we have provided for this event. Good luck to everyone and we greatly appreciate all of the fans. This will be the first ever “electric motored” LOLMDS sanction race.”

John Powell, owner of Powell's Plumbing Inc., has agreed to come onboard as a sponsor here at OMS. Powell's Plumbing will sponsor a race next season, and it will be another annual event race. Thanks for becoming a part of OMS!!
